Hello, I am Ian Black, Counsellor and Therapeutic coach providing counselling in Bury St Edmunds (Mondays to Fridays, weekends by arrangement). In addition to Diplomas in Therapeutic Counselling and Fusion Therapeutic Coaching, I am a Relate Licensed Relationship and Couples Therapist.
For the very busy person, or maybe there is one issue that needs addressing, contact me for a Single-Session Solution-focussed therapy appointment.
Telphone, Skype and Home-visit appointments are also options
A Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy BACP; I am on the BACP Register of Counsellors and
Psychotherapists, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
While I provide counselling support, whatever the area of concern, my Approach means we will work together to help you manage life's problems, I also offer coaching and guidance.
Some people want a little more from their counsellor; maybe a way of achieving goals, or focussing on the future. For this I offer a bespoke coaching programme incorporating counselling, CBT and goals-focussed coaching. Relaxation and 'downtime' are considered important elements in alleviating depression and anxiety, and Mindfulness can help you with this.
You might have issues around poor communication, rows and arguments, being listened to and understood, or perhaps low self-esteem, stress, depression, anxiety, bereavement, or you may wish to move on with your life but find yourself stuck; we can work together to achieve the future you want.
While my approach is applicable to anyone regardless of gender, belief or background, I also have experience in dealing with military and ex-servicemen and their families and I understand the particular issues and how you may be affected.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
If you require a more specialised approach, I would be happy to discuss referral, alternatively, I can put you in touch with a number of associates, who specialise in such areas as Asian-community, or Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual and transgender issues, for example.
